Whale Guardians™ team members were proud to welcome new industry member EBE NV, a bulk carrier company operating out of Antwerp Belgium, into The League Of Whale Guardians™ in October 2023.
EBE, is a Belgian shipowner founded in 2016, which owns and operates a fleet of modern dry bulk carriers. Their commitment to implementing Whale Guardians™ official rerouting recommendations throughout their entire fleet will save many critical whale lives from unintentional and lethal vessel strikes.
In these critical times where we still have a chance to bring endangered species like the blue whale back from the brink of extinction, it is truly heartwarming to have industry leading the way in protecting these great behemoths from their number one threat. We are confident that other industries will follow EBE's example and step up to prevent another species, the largest animal ever to have lived on this planet, from entering the extinction list.
We look forward to working in partnership with EBE and our industry/biologist/port partners to create vessel routes that avoid critical whale habitat in hundreds of critical whale habitats across the globe while keeping vessel schedule and safety as the top priority and of course, saving the maximum amount of whale lives possible.
